Short Biography

David Lejsek is Senior Expert for Combustion Systems in the “Powertrain Solutions” division of Robert Bosch GmbH in Schwieberdingen, Germany. His focus is on measurements and thermodynamic analyses of the working process of spark-ignited combustion engines.

He received his engineering degree from the University of Stuttgart in 2003, having specialized in combustion engines and automotive studies. After joining the Bosch group in 2003, he worked in the pre-development of combustion systems for spark-ignited engines. In the following, he deepened his knowledge of thermodynamic engine analysis and was awarded a PhD from the Technical University of Darmstadt in 2009 for his in-depth study of wall heat transfer phenomena during the engine start-up phase. Since then, David has worked as a  project manager in the development of combustion systems and has continued his research on the thermodynamic analysis and evaluation of the combustion engine working process. Besides the “mainstream” homogeneous/stoichiometric combustion strategies, current key aspects are the combustion of lean fuel-air mixtures and the use of compressed natural gas and hydrogen for future powertrains.
