In a dissertation, you have the opportunity to conduct in-depth work on interesting research topics, often in cooperation with an industrial partner. Please contact the director of the appropriate research area directly for information on the specific topics available.

I. Assigment of dissertations

  • Update your e-mail address on your TUGonline business card (so that you are informed of the dates of the Dissertation Seminar)
  • Obtain a confirmation of the dissertation from the Institute Read through the dissertation instructions “Merkblatt DISS ITnA“
  • Fill out the institute supervision form “Betreuungsblatt DISS ITnA“ Fill out the “Curricularer Anteil TUG“ form 1)
  • Complete the “Training Agreement TUG” 1)
  • Fill out the “Feedback DISS ITnA” form
  • Use the master’s thesis/dissertation template (template is sent to your e-mail address)
  • Read “Instructions for the registration of your TUG thesis” Fill out the “Eidesstattliche Erklärung TUG” (German) / “Statutory Declaration Form TUG” (English)
  • Write to the VR for Academic Affairs to embargo the MT DT DISS TUG
  • Read about and apply for the annual award sponsored by the Fachverband für Fahrzeugindustrie

II. Enrolement

  • Registration Office, Rechbauerstraße 12/1 (in PERSON)
  • Please bring the confirmation of the dissertation from the institute to enrollment. 1)

III. Carry out of the work

  • Determine the concept, scope and schedule with the supervisor from the institute
  • Participate in project meetings with documentation of progress every two months
  • Use the Word master’s thesis/dissertation template for the dissertation (insert text, illustrations, formulas, etc. into the template)

IV. Submission out of the work

  • The professor and dissertator register for a dissertation presentation in the Teaching Office.
  • An unbound copy of the dissertation must have been submitted by this time
  • Enter the abstract and full version of the dissertation in TUG Online as explained in the “Instructions for the registration of your TUG” thesis
  • Release the registration of the dissertation in TUG Online
  • Read the instructions from the Dean's Office, Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, at http://www.maschinenbau.tugraz.at/dekanat/studien
  • Request for authorization to take the doctoral examination: Ms. Dr. Ruplitsch  (IN PERSON) The professor at the institute and the supervisor at the partner company (if applicable) should each receive a copy of the dissertation
  • Submit to the Teaching Office:
    • One copy for the institute library (with the “Antrag auf Benützungsbeschränkung der Dissertation form”)
    • CD (pdf) max. 15 MB
    • Abstract
  • Submit 4-5 copies of the dissertation to the Dean's Office (with the Antrag auf Benützungsbeschränkung der Dissertation form if necessary – “write to the VR for Academic Affairs to embargo the MT DISS TUG”)
  • Submit an electronic version (CD) of the text, illustrations, programs and data to your professor
  • Fill out the “Feedback DISS ITnA” form and submit it to the Teaching Office
